Romeo  ♂

Inti  ♀

Inti came to us just hours after birth, and had already experienced human indifference. A tourist who had just arrived on the island spotted her curled up beneath a plant while waiting by the hotel pool for her room to be ready. She alerted the staff, but—what a surprise—no one understood her.

The little one had been there for at least four hours, lying under the blazing sun while music played and people enjoyed themselves around her. Little by little, she was fading away, invisible to everyone. When the tourist contacted us and we saw the situation, we didn’t hesitate for a second: we had to save her. She carefully wrapped her in a towel and kept her safe until we could pick her up.

She’s a natural fighter, full of life and tenderness, reminding us how important it is not to look the other way.

When she turns two months old, Inti will be ready to find her forever home. We’re looking for a family to give her the love and security she has always deserved, preferably in a home with another cat, as she’s a very affectionate, playful little one who enjoys company.

Romeo was the first cat I pulled from an animal shelter.

I saw him there one Friday. He was so sick that I couldn't just walk away and leave him in that cage. I didn't know what was going to happen, but I knew for sure that if something happened to him, I didn't want it to be inside there, all alone.

So Romeo came home with me.

And what looked that day like a rescue with an uncertain future turned into many years of life.

Romeo found a wonderful family alongside Elvira, where he was immensely loved, cared for, and happy until the end of his days.

It’s been about 14 or 15 years since that Friday, and Romeo is no longer here, but his story remains one of those I look back on with the greatest affection.

Because that sick cat I pulled from a cage thinking he might have very little time left, actually had a whole lifetime ahead of him. 🤍
